Begin the day with an early breakfast, followed by a briefing at the park headquarters on chimpanzee tracking. With the help of an experienced guide, you’ll trek through the forest in search of these intelligent primates. The trek can last 1-4 hours, offering a chance to spot other wildlife such as red-tailed monkeys and black-and-white colobus monkeys. After breakfast, embark on a 5-6 hour drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to more than half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. Enjoy the stunning landscapes along the way, passing through rural villages before arriving at your accommodation. Spend the evening relaxing and preparing for the gorilla trek the next day.
Following an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before starting your trek to find one of Bwindi’s habituated gorilla families. Led by expert guides and trackers, the trek can take anywhere from 2-8 hours, but the reward is an hour spent observing these majestic creatures in their natural habitat.
