New Uganda Wildlife Authority Tariffs for 2024 to 2026
New Uganda Wildlife Authority Tariffs for 2024 to 2026
The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) is responsible for protecting wildlife in Uganda and managing 12 wildlife reserves, 10 national parks, 13 sanctuaries, and 5 community wildlife management areas. Recently, UWA introduced new tariffs, effective from 1st July 2024, to ensure tourists and stakeholders adapt to the updated pricing structure. The changes aim to enhance wildlife conservation and sustain Uganda’s tourism sector.
Key Reasons for Tariff Changes
- Improving Tourism Infrastructure: Additional funds from increased tariffs will improve facilities and destinations across Uganda.
- Conservation Efforts: The higher fees for park entrance and activity permits will support wildlife conservation, such as anti-poaching projects, habitat restoration, and community-based initiatives.
Important Information Before You Travel
- Children: Defined as individuals aged 5 to 15 years.
- Identification: Tourists must present valid identification (e.g., passport, national ID for East African citizens).
- Exemptions: Children under 5 years are exempt from park fees.
- Duration: Exceeding 24 hours in the park incurs additional fees.
- Fees: Prices are quoted in both US dollars (US$) and Uganda shillings (UGX).
