Experience a Cultural Safari in Eastern Uganda
Join us on an unforgettable cultural safari in Eastern Uganda! Recently, a Swedish couple who previously traveled with us reached out, eager to return to Uganda. After enjoying a fantastic gorilla and chimpanzee trekking experience in Western Uganda, they were excited to explore the vibrant cultures and stunning landscapes of Eastern and Northern Uganda.
We crafted an 8-day itinerary focusing on Uganda’s rich culture and diverse wildlife. This adventure takes you along the Eastern route, starting with the breathtaking source of the Nile in Jinja. Along the way, you’ll encounter scenic waterfalls and immerse yourself in a unique coffee experience with the Sebei tribe in Sipi Falls. The journey leads through remote areas showcasing the beauty of nature and the fascinating culture of the Karamojong peoples. The highlight is a game drive in Kidepo Valley National Park, renowned for its incredible wildlife. The journey concludes with a visit to Murchison Falls National Park and the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, offering a chance to tick off “the Big 5.”
Adding Adventure to the Itinerary
The couple wanted to add some adventure to their trip, and we were thrilled to tailor the itinerary to their preferences. They chose to include rafting on the Nile in Jinja, a day hike on Mount Moroto, and a walking safari in Kidepo Valley National Park.
Let’s take a closer look at their journey through Eastern Uganda, where the focus is on local culture and breathtaking nature.

Sebei Tribe Cultural Visit
The Sebei tribe, residing near the scenic Sipi Falls, is known for cultivating coffee on the foothills of Mount Elgon. Our visitors participated in a community walk to learn about coffee cultivation and processing. They engaged in hands-on activities, from roasting beans over the fire to grinding them into powder. The experience culminated in tasting a freshly brewed cup of coffee they had helped prepare.
Karamojong Cultural Visit
Continuing north on the cultural safari, the couple visited a remote Karamojong village. Here, they learned about the traditional lifestyle of the Karamojong, who are known as cattle herders. They participated in cultural dances and witnessed the traditional preparation and sharing of blood and milk from a cow. It was a truly special experience for our visitors!
Enjoy some snapshots of the Karamojong cultural dance and the vibrant community!
After soaking in the cultural highlights, they embarked on a day hike on Mount Moroto before reaching the untouched wilderness of Kidepo Valley National Park.
